My sons and daughters, male and female students of university hostels
First of all, I congratulate you on the new academic year, wishing you continued success and a happy stay, as you are the light that illuminates the future of this country, and the bright stars that shine in its sky.
Sohag University is looking forward to accommodating the largest possible number of students, and providing them with distinguished accommodation inside the buildings of university cities, male and female students, and the university pays great attention to developing ways of accommodation and nutrition for its resident children, providing all the necessary services, providing social care, and achieving appropriate conditions as an alternative family for students by providing amenities

My dear sons and sisters, students of university cities
I congratulate you on the new academic year, wishing you continued success and success, and that your stay in university cities will be a great deal of your good faith in us, confirming the words of the President of the University that Sohag University is working to accommodate the largest possible number of students while maintaining the provision of distinguished accommodation for them inside the buildings of university cities, male and female students, as the university is interested in following up the new construction work for university city buildings, developing and improving the current buildings, and ensuring training the supervision of university cities. And nutrition to provide human cadres capable of dealing with our students
The dormitory was opened in 1973.The coming students to the dormitory increased because the residence there is very cheap and safe
About:
Sohag University established a dormitory for the expatriates, but on certain conditions, as the dormitory doesn’t accept any student otherwise he qualifies the conditions which the dormitory assigns
Worthy mentioning is that the administration sometimes hire buildings for the students to facilitate their arrival to the faculties also there is a new premise was opened at the new premise of the university
University dormitories are one of the most vital departments in the university, as it works to provide appropriate accommodation for expatriate students by providing accommodation in multiple housing units, some of which are located in the university campus or near it or within the city of Sohag, where it receives many students, whether from all the governorate
Vision:
The dormitory works on providing the residence ways for the expatriates through the service and supervision staff, as it provides the security and helps the students to overcome
the problems which face them through a specialized team of psychological and sociable specialists
It also works on meeting the needs of the students through the different activities which are held inside the dormitory.
Finally the dormitory decreases the alienation feeling and helps the students to depend on themselves
Mission
The dormitory provides the different activities and programs
It also promotes the cultural awareness of the students through holding the different seminars.
It as well provides the service of hosting the non resident students
1-Provide the good nutrition to the students
2- Fill the spare time through practicing sports
3-Benefit from the human student abilities
4-Develop the loyalty spirit
5- Develop the social, psychological, cultural, sportive, scientific and healthy fields
6-Help the students to merge in the social life
7- Help the poor students and solve their social problems
8- Strengthen the relation between the dormitory and the students
9- Develop the character of the student and increase his experience
10-Provide a suitable place to the expatriates and provide the suitable atmosphere for studying
Firstly
it cares about the students of the special needs
The dormitory provides a technological center, a library and banners, to the blinds, these ways are written by Braille way, as Nour Albaseera center which was opened to provide good service to the blind students
It also provides training courses in languages, computer and human development
As well there is a library which contains magazines, books and academic curricula
Secondly
Youth care office presents the following services
A gym for physical fitness was opened
Expand the green lands
Provide playgrounds in the hostel
Establish a cultural library and a social and scientific clubs
Establish a glass hall to hold seminars and ceremonies
Thirdly:
it also presents the following projects
MIS project
MIS project was executed as the students apply to the hostel through the web site
Worthy mentioning is that this project is considered as one of the best projects at the minister of high education
Fourthly:
The general service center for employing the female students
The university council issued a resolution dictated on establishing this center
The center also has many aims;
1- Participate in preparing the female students to be a good house wife
2-Etsablish a unit to train the students on cooking and sewing
There are also two sections in the center
1-sewing department: to sew all the requirements of the hostel and the hospital;
2-cooking department: to make the confectionary to the staff members
Fifthly:
Food office
Establish a bakery in the hostel to solve the problems which face food sector
Establish food halls in the different buildings
Also there is a central restaurant
Sixthly:
Establish the developed suite
Hosting the delegations from the Arab Universities
Also hosting the foreign students
Seventhly:
Other services the dormitory presents:
Washing and drying units to wash the blankets and bed sheets
Maintenance unit for the carpentry, electricity and plumbing
Provide a good residence to the students during the summer training
Provide a good residence to the students of open learning
Firstly:
The buildings which are added to the residence
The dormitory provides places to assimilate the increasing numbers of students
Secondly:
The buildings which were maintained
Some building were maintained
Thirdly:
Develop the kitchens and food halls
The kitchen were prepared and renovated to provide the suitable healthy cooking
Also the food halls were developed
Fourthly:
Delegation suites
A suite on the second floor was assigned to the delegated students, as it comprises 18 rooms
Fifthly:
Establish the glass halls to hold the seminars and the ceremonies
The glass hall locates in the passage between h building and w building and it was prepared to hold the student activities
Worthy mentioning is that many ceremonies were held in the glass hall

Sixthly:
Caring about the students of the special needs
A developed suite was established to facilitate the movements of the students also the water closets were expanded
The hostel as well established four centers for the blinds, four libraries and banners written by Braille way

The university established a bakery
Eighthly:
Kindergarten
In 2012 the president of the university opened a kindergarten for the children of the employees, this kindergarten accepts the infants
The hostels are considered the most important authorities at the university, as they provide the suitable residency for the male and the female students.
Many external and internal students reside in the hostel.
The importance of the hostel became greater because the female students can reside in it, as their families consider the hostel the safest place for their daughters because of the good supervision.
The management of the hostel solves the problems of the students, provides many services which make the life easy and comfort and it promotes and develops the level of the residency.
Firstly:
In the frame of giving a special care for the students of the special needs
The hostel provides the necessary services and a technological center for the students of the special needs
Secondly: MIS project
The MIS project was executed in the hostel, as the students can apply through the web site of the hostel.
This project is considered as one of the best projects in the ministry of higher education, as it give the expatriates the opportunity to apply on line and save their efforts
New students were accepted in university dormitories according to places, age and the priority for the youngest age and for residents at a distance of 25 km from the city of Sohag, after submitting a copy of the birth certificate or an official extract and a copy of the identity card.
Old students and residents of the university dormitories and external housing who have got, at least, a good grade are accepted, as well as students with disabilities are accepted based on a certificate approved by the General Administration of Medical Affairs and are distributed after approving the placement form from the college to which the student belongs or according to the placement of the previous year.
