The 28th batch of Sohag Medicine donates an ultrasound device for intensive care in the Department of Anesthesia in cooperation with Misr El Kheir

The Faculty of Medicine at Sohag University organized a ceremony to operate an intensive care sound wave device in the Department of Anesthesia at the University Hospital, provided as a donation from Misr El-Kheir Foundation, and a contribution from the students of the 28th batch of the Faculty of Medicine, to serve intensive care patients. In the presence of Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President for Environmental Development and Community Service, Dr. Magdy El-Kady, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Afaf El-Gohary, Head of the Health Sector at Misr El-Kheir Foundation, and a number of faculty members and students, in the glass hall at the old university headquarters.

Prof. Hassan Al-Nomani, President of the University, stressed that in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the importance of enhancing integration between the state and civil society institutions, and working side by side to achieve sustainable development in all fields,
The university is keen to communicate and partner with all community bodies and organizations to meet the needs of citizens and support the efforts of the Egyptian state, appreciating cooperation with Misr El-Kheir Foundation under the leadership of Dr. Ali Gomaa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, in various sectors, especially the health sector, to provide the basic health care necessary for patients.

Al-Nomani expressed his thanks and appreciation for the students’ initiative and their contribution to extending a helping hand to serve patients, adding that the university hospital seeks to provide everything available to improve the medical service provided in it, and to serve the large numbers of citizens who frequent it throughout the day from various governorates of Upper Egypt.

For his part, prof. Khaled Omran praised this humanitarian gesture to the students of the Faculty of Medicine and their keenness to buy this medical device in cooperation with Misr El-Kheir, instead of holding a graduation ceremony during which they feel the joy of graduation for only a few hours, and that this goodness will extend for years throughout the period of work of these devices and provide service to patients, calling on all batches of colleges in various Egyptian universities to follow their example and donate the amounts allocated for graduation ceremonies for charity and hospitals.

Prof. Magdy Al-Qadi thanked the students of the Faculty of Medicine, batch (28), for their continuous contribution to the benefit of the Sohag community, and for their feeling stemming from their national belonging and love of volunteer work. He explained that the students donated the Echo device to the Department of Intensive Care and Anesthesia with an amount of 450 thousand pounds, adding that during the current year, the number of care beds was increased from 8 to 38 beds in light of the permanent development and renaissance witnessed by the health sector.

The ceremony was attended by prof. Ahmed Fathy, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Fawzi Abbas, Head of the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, and Dr. Iman Salama, Deputy Director of the University Hospital and Quality Officer.
