The Project Management Unit at Sohag University is working to activate its role during 2013 by adopting a set of ideas, namely:
1. Activating the role of the information and decision-making support center by building databases and information within the university that would facilitate the decision-making process and make it based on a scientific basis. It is also concerned with providing means of communication with information banks in the vicinity of the university and at the national level.
2. Adopt the idea of holding a conference on “the role of projects in developing the educational and research process and community service.” Through participation with Arab universities.
3. Marketing new programs inside and outside the university through:
A – Posters and flyers.
b- Radio and television programmes.
C – Advertisements inside and outside the university.

C- Free e-marketing.
4. Adopt the idea of developing the capacities of some groups of civil society, provided that this is done through presenting programs as follows:
1- Programs for a fee paid by the beneficiaries.
2- Using genetics and molecular biology techniques to detect genetic and viral diseases.
3- Developing the professional and cognitive skills of private school teachers.
4- Developing the skills of workers in school laboratories.
5- Developing secretarial skills.
Activating the role of the project management unit to push faculty members and their assistants to search for opportunities to fund their research projects.
A- Identify the internal sources of financing.
b- Identifying external funding sources.
C – Dealing with each opportunity separately.
C – Formation of research groups.
6. Completing all ICTP projects and activating their outputs.
7. Supporting the transformation of all projects into specialized centers and coordination among them to activate their role within the university.
8. Developing the Project Management Unit:-
A- Website development.
Equipping the new information center that includes ICTP projects.
C – Coordination between existing centers.
D- Indexing the holdings and files of the unit.
C- Purchasing what the unit needs in terms of means and equipment.
9. Improving the electronic services provided to all employees of Sohag University through the information network:
A- Raising awareness among university employees regarding the use of the information network.
b- Training a team to monitor and correct temporary network faults.
C – Correct the conditions that hinder access to the network to the optimal state.
10 – Developing the capabilities of faculty members, their assistants and administrators at the university.
