Dr. Hassan Al-Noamany, President of Sohag University, participated in the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, headed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in the presence of Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and members of the Council, at the headquarters of Suez University.
Al-Nomany said that during the council, Dr. Ayman Ashour praised the efforts of the various and regular universities in implementing the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Human Building,” and the universities’ provision of many diverse services in various geographical regions, as the universities launched many development convoys in various parts of the Republic to serve citizens,
He directed the need to continue implementing the initiative, in order to activate the role of universities in serving society and developing the environment at the level of all governorates.
Al-Nomany added that the Minister also appreciated the efforts of universities in implementing the “Empowerment” initiative, which the Ministry is implementing in cooperation with the global “Givers of Hope” campaign, to raise the awareness of the rights and duties of students with disabilities within the Egyptian universities, and to provide them with equal opportunities, pointing out the importance of intensifying work to provide integrated services to these people. As well as intensifying cooperation with local and international partner institutions and entities to ensure the provision of support and care to them, he also praised the success of organizing student union elections at universities and institutes for the academic year 2024/2025, noting that student elections represent a real experience that contributes to refining students’ leadership skills and encourages them to work institutionally.
During the council, the minister appreciated the inclusion of 27 Egyptian universities in the first edition of the Times World Interdisciplinary ranking, and the presence of 4 universities among the top 100 universities in the world, and 7 Egyptian universities among the top 200 universities in the world, and directed the necessity of universities continuing to provide support to the researchers to increase the scientific publishing in prestigious and scientific journals to improve the ranking of the Egyptian universities in major international ranking.
Al-Nomany said that the Minister directed to maximize the use of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, to achieve the maximum possible benefit from the unique and enormous possibilities it provides for learning and training, and to make various types of sciences and knowledge available, as it provides many sources of documented cognitive, educational and research information from the largest publishing houses in the world that are appropriate for all ages and educational groups in Arabic and English
