This ranking system provides a unique perspective on higher education institutions by evaluating their social and economic impact, in addition to their academic and research performance.
Ranking Criteria
The THE Impact Rankings are distinguished by their comprehensive and multi-faceted criteria, which encompass 17 SDGs established by the United Nations. Universities are evaluated based on a series of indicators across these goals, which include quality education, gender equality, climate action, and partnerships for the goals. The methodology emphasizes the global social responsibilities of higher education institutions and includes the following key components:

And Sohag University was among the top 300 universities in the world in the clean energy file in 2000 and among the top 400 universities in the same context in 2023. The university has also occupied an advanced position in the field of clean water and has become among the top 300 universities in the world.
