Prof. Hassan Al-Numani, President of Sohag University, began the 198th University Council Meeting by holding a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs of our Palestinian brothers, after the Israeli violations witnessed in the Gaza Strip over the past days, in the presence of prof. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and prof. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, the accountant Ashraf El-Qadi, the Secretary-General of the University, and the deans of the faculties.
Al-Nomani said that Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, praised the contributions made by all university employees, including students, staff members, and civil servants, in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in support of President Sisi’s decisions regarding rejection of displacement.
Al-Nomani added that the Sohag University Council approved a number of decisions, including approving the regulation for the “library Information Systems” program at Faculty of Arts, with a credit hour system, , and approving a feasibility study and the material and human capabilities of the “Photography and Geomatics” and “Family Counseling and Guidance” programs at Faculty of Arts.
He also agreed to activate the two programs, “Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems,” with a credit-hour system, and the “Protected and Organic Farming Technology” program, with a credit-hour system, a special program with tuition fees in English at faculty of Agriculture.
The President of the University indicated that the Council also agreed to activate and begin studying the professional diploma (classroom teacher, one-year system, with credit hour system) in faculty of Education, starting from the academic year 2024-2025, and to conclude cooperation protocols between the facultyies (Medicine – Veterinary Medicine – Pharmacy – Sciences). – Agriculture – Nursing) and the Oncology Center in Sohag, explaining that the Council agreed to hold the “Future of Innovation and Entrepreneurship” conference in its third edition on the 20th of next November, and a cooperation protocol was concluded between the University’s Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship Unit and the Afaq International Company for Technology Studies Sophisticated.
During the session, the University Council congratulated prof. Hussein Taha for being assigned to supervise faculty of Education, prof. Hamdy Hassanein for being appointed as Acting Dean of the faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, and prof. Islam Amer for being assigned to supervise faculty of Dentistry.
