The Launch of the 100 Days Sports Initiative Cup Competitions at Sohag University with the Participation of 17 Faculties

Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany, President of Sohag University, announced the launch of the “100 Days of Sports Initiative Cup” competition, which is organized by the Sports Activity Department of the General Administration of Central Youth Welfare, with the participation of all the university faculties and will last from November 10 till April 30.

Alnomany explained that the competition comes within the framework of activities and events organized in implementation of the presidential initiative, “A New Beginning to Build the Egyptian Human,” with the aim of investing in human capital and developing the skills and capabilities of all segments of Egyptian society.

Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, said that the competition was organized with the aim of encouraging students of both sexes to practice sporting activities within the university, raising the physical activity rates of participants and improving public health by preventing the risk of non-communicable diseases, in addition to developing the sporting capabilities of students, which contributes to build their personalities and enhance the concept of sports culture in their souls.

Dr. Ahmed Atef, Director General of the General Administration of Central Youth Welfare, added that the competition activities were implemented and the participating students from all faculties were registered on the competition link, through a distinguished team of supervisors and sports specialists responsible for the competition in each faculty.

The competition includes small games, traditional games, and sports, cycling, walking, and group exercises

Mr. Nashat Abbas, Director of the Sports Activity Department, stated that the competition evaluation criteria include a number of conditions, the most important of which is the commitment of each faculty to implement 6 days of sports activities with balanced participation of male and female students, and preference is given to the faculty that achieved the largest number of student participation during the competition activities.

Al-Khatib Muhammad said that the first ranked winners in the competition will be awarded  and will get certificates of appreciation and valuable cash prizes.
