prof. Hassan Al-Nomani, President of Sohag University, inspected today the “Al-Azima” Center for Addiction Treatment, which provides its services for free, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, in the new city of Sohag, accompanied by Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President for Environmental Development and Community Service, Accountant Ashraf Al-Qadi, Secretary General of the University, Engineer Abdel Mawla Ali, Project Manager, and a number of students.
Al-Nomani said that the center was included in the presidential openings during the coming period, in implementation of President Sisi’s directives to intensify social protection and awareness programs to prevent young people from the harms of drugs, and to provide treatment services for addiction patients free of charge and in complete confidentiality in accordance with international standards, pointing out that it is the first integrated center for the treatment and rehabilitation of addiction patients in the governorate.
Dr. Khaled Omran added that the final equipment of the center, which is being built on an area of 1112 m2 and equipped with a capacity of 74 beds, is now being developed, explaining that the center includes an administrative building and another rehabilitation, and the administrative building includes a ground floor and 3 repeated floors, and a number of clinics and a pharmacy, a theater and a VIP hall, administrative offices, as well as a dormitory and offices for administrators, while the rehabilitation building includes a role for sports activities such as a gym, a games hall, a room for workshops, a restaurant and a cafeteria, and housing floors for patients.
Accountant Ashraf Al-Qadi explained that the center is located next to a football field with an area of 1,500 m2, gardens and green spaces, in order to rehabilitate those recovering from addiction, in addition to providing support and care after recovery to qualify them to integrate into society again, to be effective and productive elements and contribute to serving the country.
