Within the framework of the national strategy for sustainable development “Egypt 2030”, Faculty of Science started the first phase of roof cultivation under the auspices of Prof. Mostafa Abdel Khalek,the President of the University, Prof. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Hazem Al-Mashnab, the dean of Faculty of Science and the leadership of Prof. Alaa Yousry ,vice dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the participation of Prof. Hamdi Hamada Hassanein, Professor at faculty of science and Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at the University, Dr. Enas Mohamed Ali, Scientific Supervisor on the University Gardens and Coordinator of Sustainable Development at faculty of Agriculture, and Dr. Ali Mohamed Ali, Coordinator of Sustainable Development at faculty of Science.
The university president praised this experience and praised the role of Faculty of Science, which is considered a locomotive of development and creativity. He pointed out that roof cultivation is part of a series of initiatives implemented by the university and comes within the framework of sustainable development policy such as increasing afforestation at the university and rationalizing electricity consumption by replacing all electric bulbs to provide and use solar energy and others, which come within the framework of the state’s support for it and the achievement of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
