A doctoral Dissertation at Sohag University reveals Advanced Techniques for Ankle Tssue Repair
Supervision and Discussion Committee
Dr. Hassan Al-Nu’many, President of Sohag University and Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, chaired the discussion and supervision committee for a doctoral dissertation that is considered one of the advanced research in the field of orthopedic surgery and techniques for repairing tissues around the ankle, belonging to Dr. Ahmed Faisal Ismail Mahmoud, Assistant Lecturer of Orthopedic Surgery at Faculty of Medicine. The thesis was presented in the presence of the supervising and examining committee professors and a group of physicians from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the International Conference Center in the new university campus.
The thesis was titled “A Comparative Study Between the Modified Calf Flap and the Anterolateral Femoral Flap for Covering Missing Tissue Around the Ankle.” which dealt with a scientific comparison between the latest surgical techniques used in soft tissue repair, with the aim of improving treatment outcomes for patients suffering from tissue loss in the ankle area.
During the discussion, Al-Nu’many praised the research effort made in the thesis, explaining that the university pays great attention to advanced surgical research because of its direct impact on the development of health services, as the thesis is an important scientific addition in the field of orthopedic and reconstructive surgery, and he stressed the university’s continued support for researchers and its encouragement of them to present studies that serve the needs of patients and society.
Al-Nu’many stated that the thesis addressed a number of cases whose operations were performed within the Microsurgery Unit at Sohag University Hospitals, which is considered one of the distinguished units in this field and provides precise surgical services at the highest level. He emphasized that such studies enhance the capabilities of medical staff and contribute to raising the efficiency of performance within university hospitals.
Dr. Mahmoud Sadiq Abdel-Nabi, Vice President of Al-Azhar University for Graduate Studies and Research, an external examiner, expressed his happiness at being present at Sohag University, stressing that it is one of the distinguished scientific institutions in Egypt, with its actual capabilities and clear support for scientific research, and the remarkable development that the university is witnessing in educational and medical services.
