Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of Sohag University, attended the launch of the first forum for medical students at Egyptian universities, organized by the Sohag Medical Students’ Scientific Association (SMSA). 650 male and female students from 40 universities across the country participated in this unprecedented student event hosted by the university.
During his speech, Al-Nomany stated that the university’s vision stems from the compass set by the Egyptian state under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, which is “building the human being.” This vision was not merely a slogan, but rather became the foundation for developing the healthcare and academic systems.
Moreover, one of its aspects was supporting and encouraging student entities that believe in science and community work and work with a team spirit to serve their country.
Al-Nomany said that the university’s hosting of this forum comes within the framework of its continuous support for student activities and scientific events that contribute to refining students’ skills and developing their capabilities. He added that the university always hosts such initiatives that enhance the cooperation between universities and serve the future of medicine in Egypt.
He praised the efforts of the Scientific Association in preparing and organizing this important forum, as it is one of the most active and influential student entities inside the university.
Dr. Magdy El-Qady, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, pointed out that this forum is an important educational and training platform for medical students, as it highlights various issues such as student exchange, public health, humanitarian projects, scientific research, and medical education, in addition to offering courses to develop personal and professional skills.
He praised the active role of the Sohag Medical Students Scientific Association, which was established in 2004 as a student entity affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine.
It is part of the International Federation of Medical Associations (IFMSA), which includes more than 100 countries around the world.
Dr. Gamal Abdel Latif Radwan, former Dean of Faculty of Medicine and founder of the Scientific Society, expressed his great happiness at his presence and participation in this distinguished student event, considering it a beautiful moment of loyalty that reflects the spirit of appreciation and respect between generations.
He explained that the Society is currently witnessing continuous support and development from the university administration, led by Dr. Hassan Al-Naamani.
It is an extension of its founding vision and reflects the maturity and professionalism attained by the students who lead it today.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharif, Urology lecturer and Supervisor of the Student Scientific Association (SMSA), emphasized that the forum is one of the most prominent activities organized by the association recently.
This reflects its commitment to providing distinguished training and interactive content for medical students from various universities.
He also thanked the university administration for its continuous support and encouragement of the association’s activities, which had a significant impact on the success of this event.
Mahmoud Ashraf, head of the Student Scientific Association (SMSA), said that the forum is a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences between students from different universities and build a network of scientific and human relations that will enrich their academic and professional future.
It’s worth noting that the Student Scientific Association has successfully organized approximately 60 activities since January 2024, benefiting more than 3,500 activities students,included hosting 300 students of various nationalities, organizing first aid courses, blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring, medical convoys to the most needy villages, blood donation campaigns, health awareness, and infection control.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Ahmed Fawzy, Head of the Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Mohamed Nasr El-Din Hamdoun, Dr. Khaled Abdel Aal, faculty Vice Deans, Major General Tarek Hafez, Director of University Security, and a group of staff members.
