Dr. Hassan El-Naamani, President of Sohag University, and Major General Samir Farag, Strategic Expert, attended the cultural symposium “Sinai from Liberation to Reconstruction,” which was organized by the university, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Nasser Youssef, Vice President of the University, Brigadier General Nader Nabil, Military Advisor to the Governorate, Brigadier General Ahmed Fathy, Former Military Advisor, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Safwat, Director of Military Education at the University, and Accountant Ashraf El-Qadi, Secretary General of the University.
The university’s assistant secretaries, Major General Tariq Hafez, Director of the University Security Department, a group of deans, vice deans, directors-general of university departments, and students, met at the International Conference Center at the university’s new headquarters.
In his speech, Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany expressed his great pride and happiness in celebrating the anniversary of the liberation of Sinai.
This is the day on which Egypt regained the land of Sinai after a long struggle between it and the Israeli occupier, after a crushing defeat, as it suffered fierce battles during the War of Attrition and then the 1973 war, during which Israel learned a lesson it will never forget
which was called the Day of Atonement, and the results of the October War were a shock to the Israeli military establishment and a sweeping victory for the Egyptian military policy, praising the achievements of President Sisi and the results achieved in the battle to rebuild Sinai in all fields and at all levels, from establishing an advanced residential, educational, industrial and medical infrastructure in Sinai at the highest standards, in addition to establishing 4 Egyptian universities on the land of Sinai.
Major General Samir Farag began his speech by expressing his sincere thanks and appreciation to Sohag University and its President, Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, praising what he witnessed during his visits to the university, describing it as his “second home” due to the scale of development and achievements taking place on the university grounds day after day, in addition to the knowledge, education, loyalty and belonging of its students and their alignment behind the political leadership.
During his lecture, Major General Samir Farag reviewed the history of Sinai, the land of turquoise, from liberation to reconstruction.
He explained how our armed forces were able to liberate Sinai from the Zionist occupation and reclaim the entire Sinai land, and then resume work to cleanse it by uprooting terrorism under the strong and wise leadership, so that the reconstruction battle continues, which has not stopped for a single day since 2013.
He added that the state has pumped 1.2 trillion pounds into Sinai in agricultural, industrial, urban and investment development projects.
These include the Tahya Misr tunnels that connect the peninsula to the Nile Delta and the new cities, the development of about half a million acres of its blessed desert, and the establishment of 7 new cities on its land, aiming to accommodate 5 million Egyptians, to enhance its population density, as it represents one-sixth of Egypt’s area and is inhabited by only about 600,000, in addition to the establishment of road networks and the return of railway trips after 57 years of cessation.
At the end of the symposium, the floor was opened for discussion and questions from students and staff members, which were answered by Major General Samir Farag.
Then, Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany, President of the University, presented the University Shield to Major General Samir Farag in honor of his efforts to educate and raise awareness among all the university staff about various national issues.
