Major General Samir Farag plants a Tree in his name at the new Sohag University as part of the 100 Million Trees Presidential Initiative

Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of Sohag University, joined Major General Samir Farag, strategic expert and former Commander of the Morale Affairs Department of the Armed Forces, in planting a tree bearing  the name of the Major General’s in the university campus in New Sohag. The tree was part of the 100 Million Trees Presidential Initiative, during his visit to the university to deliver an educational seminar on the occasion of Sinai Liberation Day.

This event comes before of the university’s educational symposium, “Sinai: From Liberation to Reconstruction,” which Major General Samir Farag will lecture at, coinciding with his first participation in this month’s University Council meeting.

Dr. Hassan El-Nomany stressed that Major General Samir Farag’s visit represents an important addition to the university and its students, pointing out that the university is continuing its efforts to implement the presidential initiative of 100 million trees, where trees were planted on the name of President El-Sisi. A number of ministers and military figures also participated in planting trees bearing their names, such as Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, presidents of Egyptian universities, and a number of military figures which represents a positive message to promote belonging and the spirit of participation in community development, explaining that Major General Samir Farag was keen to plant a tree himself bearing his name.

 

Frpm his part, Major General Samir Farag expressed his happiness at participating in planting a tree bearing his name at Sohag University, praising the university’s achievements in the 100 Million Trees Presidential Initiative and its strategy for going green and adapting to climate change

and to increase the green area, he emphasized the importance of this development initiative, which benefits all university members and carries a powerful symbolism for instilling the values ​​of giving and hope in the souls of future generations, and raising the environmental awareness among students.

During the event, Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany and Major General Samir Farag inspected the university’s afforestation work, viewing the lemon, mango, and olive trees planted as part of the university’s integrated plan to plant trees across an area of ​​10,000 square meters near the new university’s main gate.
