Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of Sohag University, inaugurated the first student research conference at Faculty of Agriculture.
The conference, held at the faculty’s headquarters in the new university campus, was titled “Outcomes of Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship in Climate-Smart Agriculture.” More than 200 male and female students participated, presenting 42 outstanding student research papers.
During his speech, Dr. Hassan El-Nomani stated that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s interest in scientific research and his constant directives to link scientific research to the needs of society were a strong motivation for the university to organize this conference, which aims to encourage and harness students’ energies in finding innovative scientific solutions to the challenges facing the agricultural sector, especially in light of climate change.
Al-Nomany added that the university seeks, through such events, to create an educational environment that encourages creativity and innovation, in line with the Egyptian state’s vision to achieve sustainable development by supporting scientific research and encouraging its students to present viable ideas and projects that serve the nation’s issues.
In his speech, Dr. Khalaf Hammam, Dean of the faculty of Agriculture, explained that the conference represents an important platform for showcasing the faculty’s students’ scientific output and highlighting their efforts in modern agriculture.
He noted that the faculty is committed to integrating students into research activities from their early stages, preparing a generation capable of proposing practical and innovative solutions to pressing societal issues.
Dr. Hani Ahmed Fouad, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, added that the conference included discussions of 42 student research papers that addressed realistic issues and challenges, presented in the form of micro, small and medium-sized projects, contributing to providing practical, applicable solutions in a number of vital fields, including plant protection, plant production, animal production, biotechnology, land and water, and economic and social sciences.
At the end of the conference, Dr. Hassan Al-Nomani, President of the University, honored the students who participated in scientific research and distinguished students in various student activities.
