Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of Sohag University, handed over incubation contracts to five startups to join the Sohag Regional Center, part of the National Technology Program “Intilaq,” implemented by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in cooperation with the university.
The contracts were attended by Dr. Ashraf Okasha, the project’s principal investigator, and a number of entrepreneurs and innovative idea owners.
Al-Nomany emphasized that the university seeks, through the implementation of the “Intilaq” program, which is one of the important paths to supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship system in Upper Egypt, in addition to providing an stimulating environment for innovators and owners of emerging technology projects, which contributes to transforming their ideas into productive projects that support the national economy and achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030.
This is in implementation of the state’s directives, and I commend the fruitful and constructive cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, headed by Dr. Gina El-Feki, to support innovation and sustainable development.
Al-Nomany said that the university pays special attention to nurturing entrepreneurs and innovators through its various units, such as the Masar Business INCUBATOR, the Office for Innovation and Technology Transfer (TICO), and the Talent Support Unit, which contribute to promoting a culture of innovation and transferring knowledge to society.
Dr. Ashraf Okasha stated that each incubated project will receive financial support of up to EGP 300,000 from the Academy of Scientific Research, which will be used to develop the prototype, conduct technical and marketing studies, and obtain legal and commercial registration, in addition to training, guidance, and consulting services.
