Mustafa Abdel Khalek, the president of the University, stated that the farm of the Botany and Microbiology Departments at the Faculty of Science in the old campus has been reformed
He said that the aim of reforming the farm and planting it is to be a research and training farm at a high and advanced level, to serve staff members, postgraduate students, undergraduate students and other colleges studying in the Botany Department, in addition to giving an aesthetic touch to the place, where more than one cleaning and plowing processes of the land were carried out to remove thick weeds and plant them with other plants
Prof Hazim Al-Mashnab, the dean of the faculty, added that the farm is located next to the Cars Department and adjacent to the water tank in the university’s courtyard in the old campus, adding that specialized workers have reclaimed the land and started the cultivation process again, under the supervision of both Prof. Khalaf Ali Fayez and Prof. Diaa Radwan, professors of plant physiology at the college and Prof. Ahmed Al-Kurdi, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany.
Prof Ali Abu Amer, head of the Department of Botany and Microbiology, indicated that various seedlings were purchased from the nurseries of the faculty of Agriculture and specialized nurseries from outside the university to plant them on the farm, such as some fruit trees and ornamental trees in order to add an aesthetic touch, as well as seeds for some plants to be used as student samples.
