Prof. Hassan Al-Nomani, President of Sohag University, inspected some of the first theoretical lectures at the University’s Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, for which Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, issued Ministerial Resolution No. 490 dated last March 10, approving the start of studying and issuing its internal regulations for the “Postgraduate studies” with the credit hours system. Al-Nomani thanked President Sisi for his unlimited support for the development of Upper Egypt’s universities, including Sohag University, which has received financial and moral support in recent years to implement a number of new constructions. He also extended his thanks to Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, for his efforts. He made tireless efforts to open the faculty and begin studying there in a short period of time, explaining that the faculty is the first in Upper Egypt and will have a great impact in studying and developing environmental research to contribute to achieving sustainable development. Prof. Hamdy Hassanein, Dean of the faculty, said that lectures have begun in 4 postgraduate diploma programs (Diploma in vocational Safety and Health, Microbiology and Immunology, Sustainable Development and Resource Development, Laboratory Science and Laboratory Analysis), and 3 Master’s programs (Environmental Control and Environmental Impact Assessment, Biotechnology).Environmental Crisis and Disaster Management), in addition to a doctoral program, which is (Environmental Crisis and Disaster Management). Dr. Hamdy Al-Sharif, vice dean for postgraduate studies and research, added that the faculty’s study system is divided into 3 semesters, each semester lasts 15 weeks. He explained that lecture schedules have been set, taking into account the timings, starting at two pm, pointing out that the faculty includes a number of students coming from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman and Sudan, and taught by distinguished group of staff members from various faculties.

The team of Students for Egypt at Sohag University organized a symposium about artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship, in order to educate students about modern technology and its impact on the labor market, in the presence of Dr. Alaa Ghaleb, head of the team, Dr. Mohamed Abdallah, a lecturer the Faculty of Technology and Education, and a number of students from various faculties, in the Glass Hall in the old campus.

Prof. Hassan Al-Nomani, President of the University, said that the university aims to build the capabilities of young people in the field of artificial intelligence and exploit scientific potential

In light of this technological development, stressing the importance of acquiring technological skills in various disciplines that serve the educational process.

Dr. Alaa Ghaleb added that the students were introduced to the latest developments in information technology and made them aware of the requirements of the labor market and the required skills, and the importance of continuous connection with the industry, in addition to addressing a number of important topics required in the labor market, the most important of which is artificial intelligence, and the difference between machine and deep learning, and computer vision in industry, and business intelligence, noting that 250 male and female students from various faculties participated in the symposium.
