Sohag University launched the campaign of \u201cEgypt is the Gift of the Nile\u201d, which was organized by the Center of Sustainable Development and the university\u2019s international ranking team for green, environmentally friendly universities, within the framework of the \u201cBedaya\u201d initiative of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.<\/p>\n
in the presence of Prof. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Hamdy Hassanein, Director of the Center of Sustainable Development and General Coordinator of the International Sustainability ranking File, Major General Tariq Hafez, Director of University Security, and Engineer Muhammad Issa, Director of the Environmental Affairs Agency, at the old campus headquarters.<\/p>\n
Prof. Hassan Al-Nomany, President of the University, said that the aim of the campaign is to spread the environmental awareness and discuss the most important environmental issues and challenges, pointing out that the University has developed a distinguished program that includes all activities, including activities to preserve and sustain the environment.<\/p>\n
Paying attention to all six sustainability standards, namely infrastructure, facilities and green cover, clean energy and climate change, rationalization and management of water use, management of various types of waste, clean and sustainable transportation, education and scientific research.<\/p>\n
Dr. Khaled Omran explained that this event comes as an awareness among the students and employees of the university to make them aware of preserving the Nile River from pollution, as these activities benefit the university in the context of preparing the university\u2019s file to apply for the international ranking of sustainable universities, especially in the way the university follows sustainability standards in Water management<\/p>\n
Dr. Hamdy Hassanein stated that the event was attended by 15 students from faculty of Technology and Education and the Scouts team, where the students spoke with university employees and distributed some leaflets aimed at raising the awareness of the danger of polluting the Nile River, with the participation of Soraya Abu Hajji, a member of the ranking team, and under the supervision of engineer Nawal Mahmoud Omar, assistant lecturer at the faculty of Technology and Education and responsible for the water management standard in the international ranking file.<\/p>\n
