Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, announced the start of operating a laser device to break up kidney stones in the Urology Department, with the aim of serving patients of the Urology Endoscopy Unit, in the Obaid Building at the headquarters of the Old University Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al-Nomani confirmed that, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to preserve the health and safety of citizens in all specialties, this device has been started, which will contribute to eliminating waiting lists for patients with urinary tract stones, and reducing the rates of kidney failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From his part, Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, said that this device was donated by ABC Real Estate Company and it costs one million and 800 thousand pounds, and it is a strong addition to the urology endoscopy unit at the university hospital, as this section is one of the distinguished medical departments that performs all endoscopic operations, Urology for the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and prostate. It is also a school for training young doctors and graduating specialists to serve patients at the local and regional levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Abdel Basset Badawi, Head of Urology Department, explained that with this device, flexible endoscopes will be used to treat all types of stones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The flexibility and precision of these endoscopes make them safer and enable them to reach any place in the urinary system and the most difficult places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Laser lithotripsy is a surgical method to remove a kidney, ureter, or bladder stone, which causes severe pain when moved and other complications such as urinary bleeding, recurrent infections, renal atrophy, and finally acute or chronic kidney failure, adding that the operation is performed under local or general anesthesia and is considered less risky<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
