A medical team from the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy Unit at the Pediatrics Department at Sohag University Hospital successfully performed a delicate procedure to remove a PIN from the stomach of a four-year-old child using a pediatric gastroscope, without any complications.<\/p>\n
The child was discharged from the hospital just three hours after the procedure and is in good health.<\/p>\n
Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany, President of the University, stated that this comes within the framework of the University’s commitment to providing advanced and safe healthcare for our children.<\/p>\n
He praised the professional level of performance of the medical team and the ongoing efforts to develop the services of the University Hospital, adding that the University places at the forefront of its priorities the support of specialized medical departments, especially those dealing with critical and delicate cases, in line with the international standards.<\/p>\n
Dr. Magdy El-Qady, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, explained that the university administration is committed to providing modern technologies within the university hospital to serve patients.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that this successful intervention is a model of the hospital’s distinguished medical expertise, capable of handling critical cases.<\/p>\n
Dr. Ahmed Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals, confirmed that the case was handled quickly and efficiently, with the medical team using a pediatric endoscope to extract the pin without any surgical intervention.<\/p>\n
This contributed to the child’s discharge from the hospital in the same day in a perfect condition.<\/p>\n
Dr. Abdul Rahim Sadiq, Head of the Pediatrics Department, added that the Pediatric Gastroenterology and Liver Unit receives 5 to 6 cases per week for upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, in addition to following up \u00a0the cases through the outpatient clinic and the inpatient department.<\/p>\n
The unit is supervised by Dr. Ashraf Radwan, Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and includes Dr. Omar Abdel Latif, Lecturer of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Dr. Amani Mansour, Assistant Lecturer in the unit, and resident physicians.<\/p>\n
