The SIR includes both, size-dependent and size-independent indicators; that is indicators influenced and not influenced by the size of the institutions. In this manner, the SIR provides overall statistics of the scientific publication and other output of institutions, at the same time that enables comparisons between institutions of different sizes. The university ranked seventh in Egypt in the field of energy and ninth in the field of chemistry. It also ranked 23<sup>rd<\/sup> among Arab universities in the field of veterinary medicine and 28<sup>th<\/sup> in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics.
