Sohag University President praises the Products of the Animal and agricultural Production Units and their Role in Achieving Self-Sufficiency for the Local Community

Prof. Hassan Al-Noamany, President of Sohag University, praised the pioneering role played by Faculty of Agriculture and its contribution to achieving sustainable development goals, achieving self-sufficiency for the local community and meeting national basic needs, through its constant endeavor to increase productivity, provide strategic food commodities, and provide solutions to the issue of food security, through the production of its farms, which are estimated at approximately 300 acres, and the community services, agricultural consultations and guidance it provides to farmers to advance the agricultural sector.

Dr. Khalaf Hammam, Dean of the faculty, explained that the faculty includes an elite of specialized scientific cadres that provide distinguished and advanced scientific research that helps increase the productivity of agricultural crops and fruit trees, and also provides high-quality animal and poultry production sources at reduced prices compared to local market prices, adding that the productivity of agricultural units

 

Dr. Zeinham Sheikhoun, the faculty’s vice dean for community service and environmental development, said that animal production farms provide the university and local community with varieties of pigeons, quail, and poultry, as well as meat from slaughtered sheep, goats, and cows, in addition to the agricultural crops they produce of wheat, barley, and alfalfa and vegetables and fruits that are distinguished by their quality, explaining that during the past few months, sales of these products achieved financial revenues of more than 900 thousand pounds.
