Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, announced the results of the university- ideal male and female student competition, which resulted in both the student Mahmoud Ashraf Mahmoud in the fourth year at Faculty of Medicine, and the student Wafa Salah Abdel Hamid in the fifth year at Faculty of Medicine winning the title of ideal male and female students.
Al-Numani stressed the importance of this competition, which enhances and develops the sense of competition among students, pointing out that the competition aims to highlight the necessity of integration between students’ academic excellence as well as the pursuit of developing culture, personal skills and creativity in various activities, based on the university’s belief in its main role.
The fundamental goal is to form students’ personalities and develop their awareness, abilities, skills and talents, to prepare qualified and trained cadres to contribute positively to building the future of the nation, based on the state’s trends in placing youth at the top of its strategic priority list and Egypt’s 2030 vision.
Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, explained that the competition jury’s evaluation of the applicants was carried out in accordance with the announced conditions, which differentiate between the applicants according to the student’s skills in communication, presentation and academic excellence, his involvement in student activities, his social skills, his proficiency in at least one foreign language, the student’s cultural and political awareness is also evaluated through the extent of his familiarity with various local and international issues and the challenges facing the Egyptian state in various fields, according to a number of criteria.
Sabri Muhammad, Director General of the Central Administration for Youth Welfare, added that the criteria for participation in the competition (according to the Student Ethical Charter announced by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research) stipulated that the student participating in the first or preparatory year of the faculty must not have obtained at least a good grade, and no previous penalties or punishments have been issued against him, provided that he practices student activities and has effective presentation and communication skills.
It is also preferable that he have artistic, literary, mathematical and other skills, and also that he have critical scientific thinking skills and the ability to solve problems and creative thinking, and participate socially inside and outside the university
Asmaa Omar, Director of the Department of Social Activity and Trips, indicated that the ideal male and female students at the university level will be promoted to represent the university in the Ideal Male and Female Student Competition held nationwide, noting that the number of male and female students who participated in the competition was 16 male and 14 female students, and they won two places.
The second and third students, Osama Youssef Tawadros in faculty of Engineering, the student Ahmed Mahmoud Muhammad in faculty of Commerce, and the two students Nourhan Hamdan in faculty of Science and Arwa Mohsen in faculty of Agriculture also obtained second and third places.
