A medical team in the Maxillofacial Surgery Unit in the Department of General Surgery at Sohag University Hospital succeeded in saving the life of a 25-year-old young man who suffered a cut in the front arteries of the neck.
Dr. Hassan Al-Nomani, President of the University, said that the case arrived at the General Surgery reception and was suffering from a severe bleeding, where it was treated and received and first aid was given to stop and control the bleeding, until he was urgently admitted to the operating department and provided with the necessary medical care, thanking the medical team for their efforts
From his part, Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, said that the injured person arrived at the reception in a serious condition, suffering from very low blood pressure, as a result of a large incision in the neck.
The necessary medical support was provided to him by urgently forming a medical team and performing the necessary surgery and follow-up the condition until it fully recovers.
Dr. Kamal Al-Sharqawi, head of the department, added that the case was received in an unstable condition, so the necessary x-rays and medical examinations were performed and she was admitted to the operating department urgently, explaining that the surgical operation lasted approximately 90 minutes, during which the medical team succeeded in saving the patient’s life.
Dr. Islam Amer, head of the medical team, said that the surgical operation during which the veins, ruptured tissues, and muscles were connected and the wound was stitched after being completely anesthetized, adding that the patient was able to take fluids after an hour and eat after two hours and left for his home, thanking the head of the unit, Dr. Ahmed Jaber and the anesthesia team and nursing staff.
