In its 200th session of December 2023, the Council of Sohag University, headed by Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of the University, began by congratulating President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on his victory in the presidential elections, wishing His Excellency more achievements to complete the process of development and construction, to move towards the new republic, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Nasser. Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Accountant Ashraf Al-Qadi, Secretary-General of the University, and deans of faculties.
Al-Nomani explained that the Council approved a number of important decisions, including activating the Bachelor’s Program – faculty of Education in the Computer Specialization (primary, preparatory, and secondary) starting from the academic year 2024-2025, according to the unified regulations for teacher preparation (Bachelor’s – Bachelor’s) with the credit hour system for faculties of education in Egyptian universities, activating the internal regulations of the faculty of Specific Education with the credit hour system starting from the academic year 2024-2025.
Al-Numani added that the Council also agreed to open enrollment and registration for the doctoral degree in the Department of Sports Administration and Recreation at the faculty of Physical Education, and to approve the regulations for the digital media program at faculty of Arts with a credit hour system and a special program for expenses.
Al-Numani pointed out that the proposal for the incentive track to obtain academic degrees (Master’s – Doctorate) was approved, with an emphasis on granting the degree after public discussion, so that the incentive track is optional and not compulsory according to what is appropriate for the faculty, Two doctoral research papers will be published in Q1 magazine and a research paper will be published, for Master’s Q1, approving the memorandum of understanding with the University of Barcelona (within the Erasmus programs), and extending the Erasmus program agreements with the universities (Cordoba-Santiago) until 2027.
He added that it was approved to hold a conference of the Department of Plastic Surgery at faculty of Medicine under the title “Cleft lip and cleft palate surgery” in the presence of international expert Dr. Brian Summer Ladd, plastic surgery consultant at the University of Alabama Hospital in America, during the 9th and 10th of next January.
It is worth noting that the Council has approved the appointment of 4 staff members in the Faculties of Arts, Science, Law, and Physical Education to the position of professor, and 2 staff members in the faculty of Science in the position of assistant professor, in addition to the appointment of 3 staff members in the Faculties of Arts, and pharmacy as a lecturer, in addition to granting doctoral degrees to 19 staff members in the faculties of education, arts, medicine, veterinary medicine, archeology, and agriculture, and granting master’s degrees to 15 staff members in the faculties of education, science, agriculture, arts, and physical education. .
