Sohag University Council agrees to hold a climate justice and sustainable development conference and implement “Know Your Country initiative” for the University students

Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, chaired the monthly session of the University Council No. 202 for January 2024, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, the accountant Ashraf Al-Qadi, Secretary-General of the University, and the deans of the faculties

This is in the Arts Council Hall in the university’s new headquarters.

Al-Noamani began the University Council by thanking President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the great importance he gives to supporting and developing the educational and research process in the Egyptian universities, considering education as  one of the basic pillars for achieving sustainable development and building a promising future for youth.

He also thanked Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his efforts, continuing to provide distinguished higher education that is compatible with the requirements of the labor market and contributes to comprehensive development.

Al-Numani explained that the Council had approved a number of decisions, including editing the academic regulations for the Bachelor’s Program in Nursing Sciences with credit hours.

The university president indicated that the council had agreed to hold a conference about “Climate Justice and Sustainable Development” at Faculty of Arts in May, and to implement the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs initiative at Faculty of Archaeology, “Know Your Country,” for students of various faculties with the aim of raising archaeology and enhancing the spirit of Loyalty and belonging to them, and also approval of the initiative (Know Your Country’s Antiquities), provided that this initiative is between faculty of Antiquities, the Governorate, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (represented in the Sohag Antiquities Area) to educate school students about the importance of antiquities and their preservation.

Al-Numani added that it was approved to hold a number of training courses for children from 6 to 14 years old at the university’s Heritage and Handicrafts Center, about forming artistic paintings with waste paper, manufacturing paper from waste, and hand weaving for children.

It is worth noting that it was approved to appoint 5 staff members in the Faculties of Science and Medicine in the position of professor, and 4 staff members in the Faculties of Medicine and Physical Education in the position of assistant professor, in addition to the appointment of 7 staff members in the Faculties of Medicine, Arts, and Agriculture and engineering as a teacher, in addition to approving on granting doctoral degrees to 14 staff members in the faculties of education, arts, medicine, and granting master’s degrees to 30 staff members in the faculties of medicine, commerce, agriculture, veterinary medicine, nursing, arts, and education. .
