The first conference, the dream of the South, at Sohag University, concludes its activities with a number of recommendations to achieve sustainable development

Prof. Mostafa Abdel Khalek,the president of the University, witnessed the conclusion of the activities of the first conference “Dream of the South”, which was organized by the university in cooperation with the Southern Association for the Development of Small Industries, about the role of civil society institutions in the sustainable development in order to achieve Egypt’s vision 2030, in the presence of Prof. Khaled Omran, Vice President for Environmental Development Affairs and community service and the conference president, Prof. Ahmed Aziz, the conference rapporteur, Prof. Hamdi Hassanein, director of the Sustainability Unit at the university, Dr. Nahla Kamal, chairman of the Southern Association’s board of directors, and a number of deans of faculties, staff members and representatives of civil society institutions.

At the beginning of his speech, the university president thanked all those in charge of organizing this conference, whose activities concluded with a number of important recommendations, which will be submitted to Major General Tariq al-Fiqi, the governor of the governorate, , in cooperation with all concerned agencies and institutions, explaining that one these recommendations is forming of a higher committee for sustainable development that includes representatives of the university, civil society institutions and the executive body, and holding the Southern Dream Conference annually under the auspices of the university, within the framework of achieving the goals of sustainable development.
