The faculty was opened in 1991, and began enrolling students in the
Academic year 1992-1993 as a branch of the faculty of medicine,
Assiut university, according to the Ministerial Decree No. 142 of
1976.In 1995 it became part of the university of South Valley. In
2006 the faculty of medicine became part of Sohag university
faculties.
